Pacaya & Agatha – Scenes from the Twins’ Birth Country
Posted by KimJun 3
Just one week ago, I was chuckling at another blogger’s humorous list of “You Know You’ve Adopted Internationally When…” and her item #4:
“you stop and pay attention whenever you hear your child’s birth country mentioned on the television or in a public place, even if they’re just talking about the weather there.”It’s the truth in our house! I even have Guatemala City programed into my iPhone’s weather app, and the twins check the weather there every day, right after checking our local weather to see if they can wear shorts or not. But this last week takes all the humor out of ”just talking about the weather there.”

A friend of mine asked me today if I’ve told the twins about what’s happening. Yes, I did, and they’ve seen the pictures. Why, at 5? They have people there they care very much about – their birth mom, birth dad, foster mom, and two little boys they sponsor. So we did what we can for now: pray.
As we find more ways to help, I’ll post those, too.

If a picture is worth a thousand words then you have posted over 16000 of them, and the images will stick in my mind in a way that words do not. I will pray with you for the people of Guatemala in the sure faith that our great and good God hears and answers the cries of His children according to his will and is able to do immeasurably more than we can ask or imagine.

Kim,
You know it even extends to the extended family with it comes to the weather and happenings at the twins birth place. The pictures of the sink hold really caught my eye. I starting wondering about their birth mom and their foster mom too. We are praying too.
Love,
Lisa

Again, thanks for caring so much about Central America! We did not get nailed as bad here in El Salvador but there still were deaths and over 140 mudslides. We are currently helping a community nearer to the beach. There are 12 families there who have significant damage to their homes, and they are already struggling in extreme poverty. Thanks for sharing these pictures and letting people know what’s happening here.

@ Danielle – I was thinking of you guys and E.S. too! I’m glad you didn’t get the brunt of the storm (would’ve been gladder if NO ONE had!)… and AGAIN to YOU – thanks for being there!
